Something different to do after law

Have you finished, or are about to finish, your law degree and don’t quite know what to do next? Do you find you’re forever noticing spelling mistakes, correcting your friends’ grammar, or sticking your nose in the pages of a book to get a whiff of that new-book-scent? Well maybe a career in publishing is for you!

Whitireia offers the only accredited publishing course in New Zealand. You are taught by experts and key hitters in the New Zealand publishing industry who will help guide you through the publishing process, and regale you with comma horror stories designed to keep you up at night.

Each year a new bunch of students will come together to take various projects from manuscript to book shelf – learning all the nitty-gritty details and industry secrets in between. Each year students will be sent on two work placements in various publishing houses all over New Zealand. You get a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at how publishing works – even a peep behind the curtain of legal publishing powerhouse LexisNexis, if you so choose.

If you think this could be for you, check out the Whitireia publishing webpage and apply!
